It's the First Day of September

And in 115 days it will be Christmas again! Yey! That isn't too long you know.

I consider myself as a Christmas addict. I love Christmases. And even though I am not a child anymore, I still have that passion for Christmas. I realized that it's in the waiting part before Christmas that excites me the most. And so today, when the clock hit 12:00 midnight , I played my good old favorite Christmas carol: The Jingle Bell Rock.

This will be my second Christmas away from home.
- I miss my family
- I miss putting up the Christmas Tree (no matter how they describe it as so pagan)
- I miss doing my Christmas shopping list
- I miss going to cheap stores and find good deals
- I miss the bibingka and puto bumbong (hayyy kay sarap maging pinoy!)
- I miss wrapping gifts
- I miss waiting for the clock to strike 12 before opening gifts
- I miss hearing Simbang Gabi o Simbang Madaling Araw
- I miss cooking for my family even if it's just me and Shobie who would eat (lol)
- I miss pinoy Christmas carols

Just can't wait to come home.

Merry Christmas!

Who Would Have Thought

Who would have thought that my life would make a complete 180 degree turn when I chose to become a missionary?

Who would have thought that I would meet someone so beautiful?

Who would have thought that I would be able to get out from the vicious cycle that went on for more than a decade?

Who would have thought that I could stand by my decisions?

Who would have thought that I could be pure again?

Who would have thought that I would be this wanting for His awesome presence?

Who would have thought that I would find myself again?

Who would have thought that I would be able to love again like crazy?

Who would have thought that I can change?

Who would have thought that everything that happened before was just preparation for me?

I know who thought about these. He is God. And He never misses to give everyone a second chance.

National Friendship Day

Two to three weeks ago I was in the state of nostalgia because I missed my friends back home. I have been here on mission for more than a year and I haven't formed profound friendships-the kind that I had when I was home. I was thinking that it was normal since this kind of "job" entails multiple goodbyes. So there I was, whimpering like a lost puppy and telling myself "poor me, I don't have friends" like I was the ugly duckling... However, God has been really quick to save me from one of my sorrows because the other day I was able to talk online with one of our fellow missionaries! Imagine doing catharsis in Tagalog! Ang galing talaga ni Lord! And in that night, I was able to hangout with two solteras here because they invited me to plan for the bachelorette party of Joyce. Yey! I have friends! I feel belonged!

But hey, don't get me wrong. In my 15 months of stay here, I have built friendships too. They are two actually, one is Paul and the other one is Ibuprofen. What I have been clamoring about is that I miss my girlfriends back home... but in an instant, God replaced their absence.

God is just awesome, isn't it?

On Cream Puffs and Loving

Today, we made cream puffs and I would like to share with you the following:
1. the crema pastelera which we made last week was not the filling itself, but the dough which we're supposed to bake (lol),. geesh! we were a four-man team when we did that.
2. the cream puff pastry is good as the bread that we have every morning, only that the size is small.
3. the time needed to prepare that dessert is about an hour but the time needed to really "perfect" it would take more than a day.
4. ultra pasteurized cream is not that good to make whipped cream though it can be a substitute in the absence of heavy cream.
5. once you are done whipping the whipped cream, you cannot rewhip it again once it stayed inside the refrigerator to cool (hard lesson learned lol).
6. that if people are new to cream puffs, they would think it is delicious even if it is not perfectly-done (thank God because those who tried were first-timers to it lol).
7. that it is a good date activity ; ) because both of you would learn more about each other...

Today was another journey of discovery between us. I am reaffirmed again on what love is... that love is knowing more about the person, and I thank God I am knowing him more even through cream puffs.

Till next cream puff session...

Ashpa

Hello everyone!

Ashpa started from some crazy idea between me and my fiance. We're thinking of some ways to earn money but like some business starters, we don't have sufficient funds to begin with. So we thought of rummaging through the house and look for stuff that we can "transform" and so we landed on the idea of working on with recycling papers. We searched through the net on how we could recycle papers and there, everything else followed. Thanks for the patience of his mom as we would use her blender and oven. She even gave us as a "gift" one casserole to do our boiling stuff.

Should you wish to order, please place your preferred design on the comments section plus your contact details. Each set comes with five pieces, all of the same designs.

Hope to hear from you!
